What a run is

A run is an unbroken streak of correct answers to live questions in paid-entry contests. Every correct answer adds one to it. A wrong answer ends it, and the next correct answer starts a new one from the beginning. Answers in free contests do not count toward a run, and neither do answers given before you opt in.

The word gets used a second way in the game as well. Inside a single-life contest, "your run" is simply your time in that contest: it lasts until your first wrong answer eliminates you. The two meanings overlap but are not the same. The contest run ends when the contest does; the Perfect 36 run carries on from one game to the next for as long as you keep answering correctly.

An example

Say you opt in, then answer all twelve questions correctly in a paid contest on Thursday night. Your run stands at twelve. On Sunday you enter another paid contest and get the first nine right, so the run reaches twenty-one. The tenth question goes against you, and the run resets to zero. The next correct answer starts it again at one.

It is harder than it sounds. In the NE Patriots at SEA Seahawks contest, the winner finished first with 10 of 12 correct. Even the best player on the night missed twice.

In Speed Survivor

A run is what the Perfect 36 counts. Thirty-six correct answers in a row, which is three full games without a miss, wins the grand prize of $3,600,000. The games do not have to fall on one weekend.

The Perfect 36 grand prize is $3,600,000 paid as a thirty-year annuity of $120,000 a year, which is its total value and not its present cash value.
