What speed points are

Speed points are how Speed Survivor scores a correct answer. Each one is made of two parts: base points, which are the same for everyone who answered correctly, and a speed bonus, which is larger the faster you answered and shrinks as the question's window runs down. A wrong answer earns nothing.

The two parts reward two different things. Base points reward being right. The speed bonus rewards being right without waiting to see how the play develops. Over twelve questions, both add up, and your total decides where you stand on the leaderboard.

An example

Two hypothetical players answer the same question correctly. One commits as soon as it appears; the other waits until the window is nearly shut. Both collect the same base points, but the first collects a larger speed bonus, so the first finishes the round ahead. Across a full game, small gaps like that decide places. On Lions at Bills on September 17, 2026, @DiscoHeck won with 2,263 points and @Turk finished second with 2,260: three points apart after twelve questions.

Why speed counts

Without a speed component, everyone who knew the answer would tie. Speed separates players who read the situation from players who guess late, which is why the score is a measure of judgment and not only of knowledge.

In Speed Survivor

Speed points decide placement among the survivors, and placement decides pay. Points also matter at a cut, where the bottom of the field by points is removed. In a single-life contest, points you banked before a wrong answer still count for placement. How it works has the full scoring picture.
